When used with aqueous mobile phases, it is referred to as gel-filtration chromatography, while with organic mobile phases, it is known as gel-permeation chromatography (GPC).The BioSol SEC® column is packed with highly stable, porous gel or particle materials. During analysis, molecules pass through the column carried by the mobile phase—smaller molecules enter the pores and elute later, while larger molecules are excluded from the pores and elute earlier. The pore size of the packing material determines the molecular weight range for effective separation.
